Academic Preview

Your 1L year is not a workout or a movie. Skipping to the end isn’t harmful and doesn’t deprive you of an invaluable learning experience.

Your job is to get the basics down as soon as possible, so that you can spend your valuable study time exploring nuances, practicing exam-writing, and connecting with mentors.

At our Academic Accelerator sessions, we’ll preview of some topics that are predictable brain-breakers for 1Ls. After learning about things like personal jurisdiction, promissory estoppel, and the commerce clause with us, all you’ll need to do is practice a non-smug response when your classmates say, “this subject is a disaster, right?”

We’ll be working on lessons to set you up for Torts, Contracts, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Criminal law — all the biggies.

Methods of Mastery

We get it. You’re inundated with “helpful advice” from bar review companies, law professors, and your neighbor’s cousin who graduated a few years ago. Everyone thinks they have the secret for acing your 1L year.

We’ll help you cut through the noise, keep the good advice, and trash the rest. We’ve been working with law students for decades. We’ve seen what works — spoiler, it’s not highlighting your textbook with four different colors or copying case briefs from free websites.

It’s not a patented 32-step system, there’s no free t-shirt for being a class rep, and it doesn’t require you to spend thousands of dollars on flashcards and laminated flowcharts. It’s clear, manageable advice that you can start to use immediately.

Career Blueprinting

Career Advice Starting Today

Contrary to the obsession over the “litigation versus transactional” debate, the legal profession offers a lot more than two options.

As an incoming 1L, you don’t need to decide how or even if you’ll practice law. What you should be doing, though, is developing an understanding of big-picture of the legal world.

We’re here to reveal the blueprints for many common career options, including government service, criminal prosecution, non-profit advising, in-house counsel, small firm litigation, general practice, big firm transactions, legal journalism, academia, and others. What’s more, we will provide you with specific guidance on actions you can take as a student that will advance you down the path of one or more careers that may interest you.

And the best part? We’ll still be here once your journey begins. When it’s time for an internship, a mock interview, or networking, we’ll connect you with the lawyers we already know and we’ll support you as you take your first steps on your own professional journey.

Individualized Attention

Each participant will have a private, half-hour consultation with one of our expert attorney mentors. During your session, we will evaluate your unique needs and suggest personalized, career-tracked action items you can put into place immediately. We’ll make specific, targeted recommendations for your academic success and support you by connecting you with additional mentors and resources within our vast circuit of high-profile (but ultra-approachable) legal professionals.
